We’re looking for a passionate and motivated Education Worker to join our team at Cygnet Hospital Derby, a leading provider of mental health rehabilitation and secure care. If you’re committed to making a difference in adults’ lives through education, this Education Worker role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a meaningful, rewarding environment.

This part-time role offers 16 hours per week, with day shifts Monday to Friday and occasional weekends (shift patterns to be finalized during the interview). You’ll work across our male and female mental health units, helping individuals take vital steps toward recovery and reintegration.

Your Role as an Education Worker

As an Education Worker, you’ll be at the heart of the learning journey for those in our care, helping to create educational experiences that support personal development and future independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support senior Occupational Therapy staff in daily tasks

  • Help deliver high-quality, recovery-focused care

  • Act as a mentor and positive role model for patients

  • Liaise with external agencies and community partners

  • Offer support and guidance to service users and colleagues

  • Assist with reintegration plans post-discharge

What We’re Looking for in an Education Worker

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience with mental health service users, particularly in secure or high-dependency environments

  • Strong knowledge of health & safety, safeguarding, and educational frameworks

  • 5 GCSEs including English and Maths (grade C or above)

  • Excellent communication skills and team spirit

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage tasks and deadlines

  • Passionate about education and committed to patient progress
