We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Event Operations to lead our events team and deliver exceptional experiences at the Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza Hotel—Mobile’s premier downtown convention hotel. With over 44,000 square feet of meeting and event space, we host an array of galas, weddings, corporate events, and conferences throughout the year. This role offers an exciting opportunity to drive operational excellence and create unforgettable moments for our guests.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Oversee and manage all aspects of event planning and execution, ensuring seamless operations and guest satisfaction.
- Develop and implement innovative strategies to enhance guest experiences while achieving financial goals.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the events and banquet team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Work closely with internal departments to ensure smooth communication and flawless event execution.
Client Engagement & Experience
- Partner with clients to design customized event layouts and setups, bringing their vision to life.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for high-profile events, addressing concerns with professionalism and efficiency.
Financial Management
- Oversee event budgets, track expenses, and implement cost-effective strategies to optimize profitability.
- Conduct regular forecasting and financial reporting to align with organizational objectives.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure all events comply with safety, health, and sanitation regulations.
- Continuously evaluate and refine event processes to improve efficiency and overall impact.
About You
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience in event operations, banquet management, or a similar leadership role.
- Background in upscale hospitality, event management, or banquet operations within a comparable property.
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- A warm, approachable demeanor that fosters team motivation and enhances guest satisfaction.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
Education & Technical Proficiency
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Proficiency in Marriott Software Systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
