Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure optimal reliability and performance of control systems (BMS, EPMS, PLC, and telemetry) within data centers.
  • Strengthen the team’s expertise in operating, maintaining, and repairing control systems.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and quality assurance of all control system-related tasks.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive operating procedures, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Methods of Procedure (MOPs), and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs).
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations to identify and resolve control system events, faults, and failures.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure high-quality support for control systems.
  • Train Critical Facilities Engineers (CFEs) in control system fundamentals during their qualification process.
  • Conduct formal classroom training on control systems for the Data Center Operations team.
  • Drive standardization initiatives for device configurations, BMS/EPMS/PLC programming, setpoints, alarms, and hardware selection.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to operational excellence.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in a control system role within a mission-critical environment.
  • A relevant ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology may substitute for up to 4 years of experience.
  • Extensive experience in control system operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Strong ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings.
  • Solid knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and fire suppression/alarm systems in mission-critical environments.
  • Basic proficiency in at least one computer programming language.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Capability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipment.
  • Endurance to stand for extended periods in various work environments.
  • Flexibility to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment-related tasks.
  • Basic physical fitness to respond swiftly to emergencies and navigate workspaces efficiently.
  • Agility to move quickly within different environments for troubleshooting or emergency response.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and dexterity for handling small components and connectors.
  • Clear vision (with or without correction) to perform precision tasks while wearing safety glasses.
  • Ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables.
  • Comfort working in diverse environmental conditions, including temperature variations.
