Role Overview
This is a 28-hour-per-week position focused on mentoring student employees, overseeing design projects, and leading public relations initiatives within a creative and educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Mentor & Train Student Employees – Supervise and guide a team of 3-8 student employees, offering hands-on experience in digital media, videography, photography, and design.
- Manage Humanities Alumni Magazine Design – Oversee the production of a high-profile, 32-page professional publication distributed to over 50,000 readers in print and digital formats.
- Lead Public Relations Campaigns – Develop and execute PR strategies, create visual messaging initiatives, and spearhead student engagement efforts through marketing campaigns and promotional events.
- Prioritize Strategic Projects – Conduct research, forecast project needs, and allocate resources efficiently based on time, budget, and impact.
- Ensure High-Quality & Innovative Design – Evaluate student work, maintain consistent visual branding, and implement creative strategies for both print and digital media.
Qualifications
Required:
- Strong commitment to BYU’s mission.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Graphic Design, or a related field OR more than five years of experience managing creative production in a studio, corporate design team, or advertising firm.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, and evaluating student employees in digital media while ensuring meaningful learning experiences.
- Proven ability to create promotional materials across multiple platforms (print, web, digital, multimedia), demonstrated through portfolio review.
- Excellent management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in graphic design software and development tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of multi-disciplinary digital campaign creation.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Graphic Design, or a related field with four years of professional experience, including leadership roles.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator).
- Advanced skills in graphic design software, including Canva.
- Experience using portfolio management tools such as Airtable, Basecamp, or Asana.
