Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform key accounting tasks, including consolidation and reporting, month-end close processes, journal entries, and account reconciliations, while meeting established deadlines.
  • Support audit processes by coordinating with various internal teams and external auditors.
  • Assist in the implementation of newly issued authoritative accounting guidance.
  • Analyze complex and non-routine transactions, developing effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams and business functions to implement, update, and refine accounting policies and procedures.
  • Review contracts and prepare customer invoices for Cost Reimbursable, Fixed Fee, Time & Materials (T&M), and Progress Payment contracts within government contracting (Aerospace, Defense, and commercial) environments.
  • Prepare and support government final and quick close-out invoices.
  • Conduct analyses and provide recommendations for process and system improvements.
  • Assess the financial impact of business changes and new transactions on quantitative and qualitative reporting.
  • Provide training or advisory support to team members as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and company accounting policies; knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) is a plus.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all financial and business information.
  • Utilize MS Office Suite, SAP, and other relevant applications.
  • Undertake special projects as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or a related field is typically required. Three or more years of progressive accounting experience with a bachelor’s degree, or at least one year with a master’s degree, is preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Experience in a financial reporting role within a private company is preferred.
  • Public accounting experience at a Big 4 or national firm is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience working with government contracting companies is a plus.
  • Strong foundation in US GAAP and its application.
  • Experience with ERP business systems is preferred (SAP experience is ideal).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in evaluating and recommending improvements to internal controls and systems, whether through independent audits or within a private company setting.
  • Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to apply judgment in making informed recommendations. Openness to continuous learning is essential.
  • High level of professional ethics and integrity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across various company functions.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, and contribute effectively in a team environment while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with a willingness to learn new systems.
  • Availability to work extended hours and travel as needed.
