Our client is a multi-discipline commercial real estate private equity firm; developing and investing in all types of commercial real estate across the country. They invest heavily alongside their partners, but also raise equity from large single and multi-family offices and institutional investors around the world.
To date, they’ve directly and indirectly participated and sponsored nearly 1BB of projects. Recently, they delivered one of the finest mid-rise, luxury apartment communities in the country worth more than $120,000,000. Additionally, the principal was the visionary behind a build to suit for an elite global technology company valued at more than $170MM. AuM today is approximately 750M.
The firm is preparing a calculated and aggressive growth plan to expand their multifamily portfolio in the southeast. They are looking to capitalize on the pending influx of distressed assets.
The MD/CFO will be responsible for developing accounting policies and procedures to maintain consistency in financial reporting across each of the firm’s various investments. This position requires a strong understanding of real estate, investments, and audit practices, budget-to- actual comparisons, and acquisition/disposition reconciliations. Specific activities include, but are not limited to:
- Work closely with the CEO in developing strategies to ensure the organization has the financial resources needed to achieve its current and future goals
- Comply with all local, state, and federal tax filings and reporting requirements
- Oversee financial reporting
- Assist in creating an organizational structure within the accounting department to facilitate the achievement of short term and long-term goals/objectives
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key financial partners including lenders, investors, partners, consultants and vendors
- Prepare and track execution of annual business plans
- Maintain portfolio analysis to track cash flows, capital projects and distributions
- Oversee portfolio budgeting, accounting and cash management to ensure accurate reporting
- Responsible for managing and directing accurate and timely closing cycles
- Assist with regulatory compliance as required
- Close collaboration with the investment team including aspects of investment activity such as deal structuring, financial and tax DD and support with legal documentation
- Detailed monitoring of portfolio investments, including interacting with management, supporting strategic initiatives and preparation of investor reports and reports required by other parties such as commercial debt providers, regulatory agencies and tax agencies
- Working alongside outside CPAs and investment partners to prepare monthly financial statements and reporting packages
- Review and analyze general ledgers for respective properties
