Wellspring Academy Trust is seeking a strategic and values-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide inspiring leadership and ensure our academies continue delivering high-quality education and enriching life experiences.

Application deadline: 9 a.m. Tuesday, 18th March.

At Wellspring Academy Trust, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. Our new CFO will play a pivotal role in shaping our financial strategy to support the success of our academies and, most importantly, the children who rely on us for education, development, and care. Many of these children have special educational needs, and we are dedicated to ensuring their success.

In this role, you will oversee the financial health of one of the UK’s largest and most successful multi-academy trusts. In 2023/24, our total income was £132m, with £95m sourced from educational grants and funding. Beyond financial planning and management, the CFO will contribute to major development projects and collaborate with external stakeholders and funders to maximise resources for our students and demonstrate the social impact of our work.

Our influence extends well beyond the classroom, with a diverse portfolio of charitable initiatives that complement our academies and support young people, their families, and the wider community.

As CFO, you will be an integral part of our Executive Team, working alongside the CEO and DCEO, while reporting to the DCEO. You will lead and develop a finance team that supports school and Trust leaders in strategic financial planning and budget management. The ideal candidate will be a solutions-focused leader, equally adept at developing financial strategies, advising the Board of Trustees, and guiding budget holders in effective financial management. A commercial mindset is highly desirable, as we seek to identify and expand revenue-generating opportunities that enhance our support for schools.

This high-profile role requires active engagement in both strategic decision-making and day-to-day operations, ensuring outstanding learning experiences for 7,392 children and a supportive, growth-oriented workplace for 2,041 colleagues.
