About the Job
The Birth Tissue Donation Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the mission, goals, and strategic initiatives of Nevada Donor Network, Inc. (NDN). This position ensures the accurate, efficient, and timely coordination of birth tissue donation services for stakeholders, including referring physicians, hospital staff, and tissue processing partners.
The coordinator is responsible for engaging with expectant mothers, educating them on the benefits of birth tissue donation, facilitating the donation process, and providing exceptional customer service and follow-up support.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver outstanding customer service and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.

Document and review referral information in the database.
-
Obtain informed consent from expectant mothers, providing clear information on the benefits of donation and completing documentation according to protocols.

Conduct Donor Risk Assessment Interviews (medical and social history) with expectant mothers in accordance with organizational guidelines.

Oversee the birth tissue acquisition process during delivery for consented donors.

Apply Universal Precautions and adhere to all safety protocols.

Monitor donor medical record requests, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all required donor charts.

Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and donor health information.

Cultivate and maintain relationships with hospital personnel, physicians, labor and delivery teams, and internal NDN staff.

Conduct educational sessions for hospital staff and expectant mothers about birth tissue donation.

Interact courteously and professionally with both internal and external clients.

Consistently meet birth tissue performance metrics and organizational goals.

Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations set by accrediting and regulatory agencies.

Act as a champion of the NDN mission, upholding organizational values and providing exemplary service.

Participate in NDN committees, special functions, and community events, as needed.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager of Birth Tissue Services and Director of Tissue Operations.
Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree (preferred); relevant work experience may be considered in place of academic qualifications.

Experience: Minimum two years of healthcare-related experience (required); familiarity with medical terminology is a plus.

Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office programs, as well as experience using computers, fax machines, photocopiers, and telephones.

Additional Requirements:

Knowledge of basic aseptic techniques, universal precautions, and medical terminology (preferred).

Availability for on-call or on-site work based on a fixed schedule.

Personal cell phone required.

Ability to travel using a personal or company vehicle to fulfill job duties.
