Position Summary
OSAM is hiring an Associate Portfolio Manager to join our Investment Team. The position location could be Stamford, CT, or New York City with hybrid work schedule.

The Portfolio Management Team at OSAM operates under a generalist model. We believe that Portfolio Managers (PMs) and Associate Portfolio Managers (APMs) should possess deep knowledge and demonstrated mastery of every aspect of the lifecycle of a portfolio—from quantitative idea generation to trade implementation—regardless of portfolio objective—passive, factor, income, or defensive. Our ongoing research is a scientific process using the combination of statistics, math, and computer science applied to finance.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of the Associate Portfolio Manager?
Responsibilities
Associate Portfolio Managers are responsible for activities within multiple functional areas. The APM’s task is to continue to advance our investment capabilities in each area under the direction of PMs:
- Factor Signals – researching new and improving existing alpha-oriented factors
- Portfolio Construction – working with our analysts and developers to maintain and refine our portfolio construction processes
- Tax Management – enhancing our tax loss harvesting framework and optimizations
- Risk Management – monitoring portfolios for adherence to client-driven mandates and risk and tax budgets
- Implementation – work on a daily basis with our implementation team to facilitate trading in client accounts
- Platform Capabilities – work with our analysts and developers to refine the tools used to effectively research, manage, and implement client portfolios.
What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated an ability to prioritize projects and work collaboratively with teams. Candidates should have some experience managing portfolios, utilizing risk models, optimization, and/or quantitative portfolio construction.
- Degree in Finance, Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Engineering, or a related field.
- Practical experience and knowledge of computational methods like regression, optimization, statistical analyses, etc.
- CFA designation preferred, but not required.
- Coding Skills, for example: Python, C#, SQL. C# strongly preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of relational data structures.
- Experience in quantitative portfolio management, extension strategies (i.e. 130/30), long/short, or market neutral is preferred, however, candidates should have 2- 5 years of experience.
- Candidates should be detail oriented and process driven.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work in the US without requiring current or future sponsorship.
