Assistant Finance Manager – Exciting Opportunity in Birmingham

Sterling Search Partners is assisting a growing Birmingham-based client in the search for an Assistant Finance Manager. This key role is responsible for overseeing financial operations and providing strategic financial guidance to drive organizational success. The ideal candidate will lead financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and analysis efforts, ensuring compliance with regulations while optimizing financial performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Monitor cash flow, investments, and key financial metrics to maintain financial health.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, financial regulations, and accounting standards.
  • Lead audit processes and collaborate with external auditors for accurate reporting.
  • Manage the preparation of financial statements and balance sheets.
  • Partner with departments like operations, marketing, and HR to enhance efficiency and profitability.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
  • Assess and mitigate financial risks to safeguard the organization’s stability.
  • Provide data-driven financial insights to support senior leadership in strategic decision-making.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (required).
  • Master’s degree in Finance or CPA designation (preferred).
  • Proven experience as a Finance Manager, Financial Analyst, or similar role.
  • Strong expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in financial software (e.g., Excel, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in team management and development.
