Assistant HR Manager – Yellowstone National Park

Join our Human Resources team in the heart of Yellowstone National Park! If you’re passionate about hospitality, people, and breathtaking landscapes, this is your opportunity to combine all three. As an Assistant HR Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing daily HR functions that keep Yellowstone running smoothly.
Position Overview
The Assistant HR Manager provides comprehensive HR support to seasonal property management teams, ensuring compliance, effective employee relations, and streamlined HR operations. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to handle sensitive personnel matters with confidentiality, and expertise in HR best practices. You will collaborate with various internal departments, support employee engagement, and continuously refine HR processes to enhance workplace satisfaction and efficiency.
Position Details
- Employment Type: Seasonal
- Season Dates: April 1, 2025 – October 24, 2025, or April 1, 2025 – March 7, 2026
- Pay: $1,832–$1,952 biweekly
- Schedule: 40 hours per week (includes weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Key Responsibilities
- Provide HR guidance and coaching to seasonal management teams.
- Act as a trusted resource for employees, handling personnel issues confidentially and professionally.
- Conduct HR investigations on harassment, discrimination, or other sensitive concerns.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, employment laws, and National Park Service regulations.
- Partner with managers to implement training programs for supervisors.
- Maintain accurate and legally compliant employee records.
- Oversee onboarding, terminations, and HR documentation.
- Support employee engagement initiatives and recognition programs.
- Collaborate with Security, Housing, and Operations teams to enhance employee experiences.
- Assist with workplace safety programs and incident investigations.
- Maintain open communication with internal departments and the National Park Service.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of HR experience or prior management experience with Xanterra required.
- HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to advise and guide managers effectively.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of employment laws, company policies, and HR best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk to multiple locations within the park daily.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Ability to navigate uneven terrain, including snow and ice.
