Tax Manager – Public Accounting Firm

Are you a seasoned tax professional ready to lead and inspire? A highly regarded public accounting firm in Chatham, Ontario, is seeking a Tax Manager to join their dynamic team. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to work with a diverse client base while driving innovation in tax services and mentoring the next generation of accounting professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the preparation and review of corporate, personal, trust, and partnership tax returns.
  • Provide strategic tax planning and advisory services to clients, including owner-managed businesses and family enterprises.
  • Research and resolve complex tax issues, ensuring compliance with Canadian tax regulations.
  • Lead client engagements, build strong relationships, and deliver exceptional service.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train junior and senior staff to enhance their technical expertise and professional growth.
  • Work closely with Partners to identify opportunities for tax planning and new client services.
  • Keep up to date with changes in tax laws and regulations, providing timely insights and recommendations to clients.
  • Manage tax audits and liaise with CRA and other tax authorities as needed.
  • Contribute to the firm’s overall success by supporting business development efforts and identifying cross-service opportunities.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A Canadian CPA designation and successful completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Program (or equivalent).
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in tax compliance and planning within public accounting.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Canadian tax laws and regulations, with a focus on private corporations and owner-managed businesses.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-focused mindset.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in accounting and tax software, with the ability to adapt to new technologies.

Location:

This is an in-office role based in Chatham, ON. Hybrid or remote work options are not available.
