Stevens Food Group is looking for qualified Category Buyer candidates with 3+ years of experience in the food service distribution industry. Candidate for this role should possess knowledge of market information, distributor purchasing strategy, pricing strategy, distribution method and billing & invoicing. A foundational understanding of vendor relations and general food service product knowledge is required. In addition, customer service and negotiation skills are a plus to be successful in this role.

JOB DUTIES

· Responsible for category management (Day to Day client accountability) supporting them with their Supply Chain needs.

· Firm understanding of category items, seasonality, market conditions and all intricacies that pertain to those items.

· Work with vendors to executive product and pricing contracts and ensure the success of the contract to move to the distributor level including logistics, price monitoring and inventory monitoring.

· Work in the best interest of all clients to source and secure new products as they align with client initiatives and approval.

· Responsible for managing vendor contracts including logistics, pricing negotiation, contract writing, and approval.

· Work with all Account Executives/clients to manage their daily and weekly success with vendors and distributors including reacting to service issues, product shortages, pricing discrepancies, credit due and all other vendor communications.

· Advise the Stevens Food Group Team on food service market conditions and upcoming pricing and product news.

· Work with and direct a team of individuals to maintain the success of client’s products and pricing at the distributor level, including providing customer service support as needed to client locations.

Core Accountability:

· Facilitate the growth and expansion of all client’s business through savings opportunities on category items.

· Create solutions to bring savings to our clients within the food service supply chain. Focus on growth and expansion through independent initiative and creative collaboration.

· Attend internal SFG meetings, vendor meetings, and client meetings as deemed necessary by Management and Customer requirements.

· Proactively identify opportunities to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of office operations.

RELATIONSHIPS:

· Internal: Account Executive and Supply Chain Coordinators, Finance, Contract Management and Purchasing Department Teams

· External: Vendors, Clients

ROLE QUALIFICATIONS:

· Working knowledge of, and experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Must have advanced knowledge of Excel formulas, create, format, and sort tables, etc.

· Food service distribution and/or broker experience preferred (2+yrs).

· The ideal candidate would be a self-starter with the ability to hold themselves accountable for the completion of their responsibilities. They would be organized with a solid understanding of Microsoft Excel and its practical applications. Consistent and clear communication with a range of individuals and groups will be required daily.

· Bachelor’s Degree preferred
