Job Overview

An exciting position is being offered by Postgraduate Medical Education to become part of their education faculty as Associate DME for Quality.

The postholder will be responsible for developing and maintaining Postgraduate Medical Education within NBT with a key focus on quality.

This is a joint role as there 2 ADME’s for Quality, the successful applicant will work in close partnership with the DME, ADME Quality & the Associate DME for Support.

Main duties of the job

The focus will be supporting excellence within PGME with a particular focus on the quality of training offered to the NBT locally employed doctors.

The Postholder will support educational governance including quality assurance processes set out by the GMC, NHSE-SW and other regulatory bodies delivering the educational agenda as specified in the Learning Development agreement, which supports both the development of trainers and trainees.

The postholder will become part of the PGME Faculty Team who aim to provide excellent training and support for all residents doctors working and rotating through NBT.

The postholder will also be supporting and developing trainers to develop a quality framework and dashboard within the organisation.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

Take a lead on reporting and enhancing the quality of postgraduate medical education at NBT. This will include collating and presenting trust wide quality data around induction, training and service provision. The overall purpose will be to meet the quality indicators for GMC, NHS-SW and other regulatory bodies.

Develop and maintain a trust wide quality portfolio encompassing training the trainers, trainer accreditation, risk register work, exception reporting and including external data.

Support local faculty to improve the quality of medical education within departments where challenges to the delivery of good quality training have been identified.

Work with the NHSE-SW quality team in the dissemination of survey findings and reporting of progress and meeting the requirements of any action points.

Essential criteria

  • Experience in postgraduate and or undergraduate medical education
  • Be aware of the requirements of clinical and corporate governance in particular reference to medical education and training
  • Have knowledge of commissioning services and management structures in medical education.

Desirable criteria

  • Lead change within the organisation that can demonstrate experience in quality

  • Experience of supervision of trainees, knowledge of curriculum changes and hold the required GMC accreditation pathways
