We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Industrial Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
- 5 years of experience in metal stamping, including tool design and construction, debug, cost, and qualification processes.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with electro-mechanical assembly.
- Experience with product data management systems (e.g., Agile, Windchill) and 3D CAD modeling tools, such as solidworks or pro engineer.
- Experience developing reliable, effective technical relationships with contract manufacturers.
- Understanding of precision sheet metal fabrication processes (e.g., NC punching, press brake forming, hardware insertion processes), hard tooling fabrication processes (e.g., metal stamping), and plastic injection molding processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Perform design for manufacturability/assembly and design for cost analyses for sheet metal (e.g., soft tool), plastic injection molded, metal stamped (e.g., hard tool), and electro-mechanical parts and assemblies.
- Identify and qualify contract manufacturers/vendors for precision sheet metal, high-volume metal stamping, plastic injection molding, tooling, and level 3 electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Provide comprehensive mechanical manufacturing engineering support to global manufacturing partners. Resolve manufacturing and field issues by escalating design, manufacturing, and product test issues when appropriate.
-
Drive process improvements that reduce process cycle times/cost, while maintaining quality. Use the product data management system to create and maintain bills of materials, approved vendor lists, and engineering change notifications/orders in support of Google products.
