About the role
This is a 6-month post focusing on the developing the protocol for circulating tumour cell (CTC) isolation from women with metastatic ER positive breast cancer with a view to developing a PhD proposal.
The post holder will be based in the Guys Cancer Centre (Innovation Hub), School of Cancer & Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kings College London and be part of the Molecular Breast Cancer Genetics Group led by Professor Elinor Sawyer.
The post holder will be responsible for the identification of potential patients for the study, gaining consent of patients. They will also be required to undertake sample collection.
We are looking for a candidate with a good understanding of the breast cancer pathway. Experience treating breast cancer patients is a plus, however is not essential.
This is a part time post (0.4FTE) and you will be offered a fixed term contract for 6 months.
About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Full GMC / NMC / other relevant body registration with valid license to practice
- Understanding of the breast cancer pathway
- Evidence of Good Clinical Practice training
- Experience of using Parsortix system
- Experience of immunofluorescence techniques
- Database management
- Ability to work in a team
Desirable criteria
- Experience of writing grant applications
- Experience of treating breast cancer patients
- Good presentation skills
