We are looking for a Government Affairs and Public Policy Manager to join our team
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience working on technology policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups, law, or relevant industry associations.
- 10 years of experience working in public affairs, political communications, or political campaigns, or within government.
- Experience with supporting global infrastructure investments or resource issues related to data center or network expansion (i.e., energy).
Preferred qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) or other advanced degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience working to shape public policy debates.
- Experience in decision-making.
- Understanding of the public policy making process.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Advise Cloud/Technical Infrastructure teams on public policy issues related to data center and network expansion (including regulatory and policy challenges, water and energy issues, and local and national political issues).
- Support Cloud/Technical Infrastructure teams in operationalizing data center expansion strategy in the United States and globally.
- Support the Cloud/Technical Infrastructure team in the development of policy positions, investment strategies and negotiating positions, and in initiatives to address energy and water challenges.
- Work with cross-functional colleagues, including across Cloud/Technical Infrastructure Legal, Tax, Product and Go-to-Market, to inform decision making on infrastructure investments.
- Monitor and research current and relevant emerging public policy issues considering how Google should work with allied organizations and industries and work with business-area leadership, Legal, Marketing, Trust and Safety, and PR to develop and launch policy-friendly products.
