Controller (Part time) Hybrid

We are looking for a Controller to join our team.

Duties and Responsibilities but are not limited to:

  • Prepare annual financial business plans and targets, operating and capital budgets and forecasts
  • Represent the client to their public accounting firm, CRA, their bank and other stakeholders
  • Prepare the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (to include P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow forecasts).
  • Management reporting and analysis to support executive decision making.
  • Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met and exceeded
  • Manage core finance processes, oversee accounting functions, and drive process improvement
  • Analyze key variances and monitor progress of action plans to improve results and strategically operate the business
  • Manage cash flow and capital spending
  • Set up of new QBO, general ledger, training of staff as required
  • Consolidate reporting for multiple divisions
  • Establish and implement financial controls
  • Prepare weekly KPI reports and related analysis
  • Provide coaching development and mentoring to other accounting professionals and administrative staff
  • Serve as primary liaison with vendors, auditors, financial institutions

Qualifications

  • Member in good standing as a CPA or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years accounting experience
  • Minimum 5 years management or supervisory experience in a related and progressive Finance/Accounting Role
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including coaching and mentorship is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of full cycle accounting, financial statements, budgeting year-end functions
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls
  • Proficiency in QBO is required.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to analyze and define business problems, to identify operational or process solutions
  • Ability to organize time and juggle multiple urgent priorities
  • Ability to adapt to change and the ability to work autonomously and as a part of a team
  • Strong technical skills in MS Office suite
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills combined with a positive can-do attitude
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills along with excellent documentation skills
  • Passion for process and continuous improvement to support various projects and initiatives

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
