We are looking for a Controller to join our team.
Duties and Responsibilities but are not limited to:
- Prepare annual financial business plans and targets, operating and capital budgets and forecasts
- Represent the client to their public accounting firm, CRA, their bank and other stakeholders
- Prepare the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (to include P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow forecasts).
- Management reporting and analysis to support executive decision making.
- Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met and exceeded
- Manage core finance processes, oversee accounting functions, and drive process improvement
- Analyze key variances and monitor progress of action plans to improve results and strategically operate the business
- Manage cash flow and capital spending
- Set up of new QBO, general ledger, training of staff as required
- Consolidate reporting for multiple divisions
- Establish and implement financial controls
- Prepare weekly KPI reports and related analysis
- Provide coaching development and mentoring to other accounting professionals and administrative staff
- Serve as primary liaison with vendors, auditors, financial institutions
Qualifications
- Member in good standing as a CPA or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years accounting experience
- Minimum 5 years management or supervisory experience in a related and progressive Finance/Accounting Role
- Demonstrated leadership skills including coaching and mentorship is required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
- Solid knowledge and understanding of full cycle accounting, financial statements, budgeting year-end functions
- Strong knowledge of internal controls
- Proficiency in QBO is required.
- Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to analyze and define business problems, to identify operational or process solutions
- Ability to organize time and juggle multiple urgent priorities
- Ability to adapt to change and the ability to work autonomously and as a part of a team
- Strong technical skills in MS Office suite
- Exceptional interpersonal skills combined with a positive can-do attitude
- Strong verbal and written communication skills along with excellent documentation skills
- Passion for process and continuous improvement to support various projects and initiatives
