Job Summary: While maintaining good public relations with the community and implementing the goals of the Agency, this position requires the completion of accounting and clerical tasks in the Operations section of the Fiscal Department while using independent judgment and initiative in keeping or reviewing the Agency’s financial records. This position reports to the Chief Accountant.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Senior Accountant with all payroll related tasks
  • Manage Donation account
  • Reconcile bank/balance sheet accounts; research and solve reconciling items, create, and process journal entries.
  • Prepare reports pertaining to special projects and program applications as required by the Department of Developmental Services (DDS)
  • Support Senior and Chief Accountant with report generation and data/financial analysis.
  • Aide in developing, documenting, and implementing fiscal policies and procedures.
  • Assume the duties of the junior accountant, if absent, working collaboratively with other members of the operations department to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
  • Responsible for managing the electronic and physical filing system for Operations related information and ensure accuracy and completeness of various tracking logs.
  • Assist senior accountant with state required vendor information requests, specifically independent financial reports, and other ad hoc projects as needed.
  • Maintain/Determine eligibility for special program applications (i.e., FCPP and AFPF) and process and prepare required administrative forms and reports.
  • Other duties as required and assigned.

 

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting and a minimum of 2 years of accounting related experience or an associate’s degree with at least 5 years of accounting related experience.

 

Special Skills and Knowledge and Other Qualifications:

  • This position requires the knowledge and terminology used in financial and statistical work.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and proper accounting and record keeping procedures and methodologies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate Excel skills (i.e., lookups, pivot tables etc.) and knowledge of general ledger functions, bank reconciliations and general accounting procedures.
  • Operate with proficiency a computer and assigned software programs, including, but not limited to (i.e.), Sharepoint, Microsoft Word, Excel;
  • The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to prioritize and work independently.
  • Must be able to reason logically, follow complex instructions and establish practices and procedures.
  • Possess the ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and strong judgment.
