Duties and Responsibilities

A. Management

  • Develop and oversee the department budget.
  • Conduct annual assessments of hospital staff education, professional growth, and leadership development needs in collaboration with unit leaders.
  • Design and implement strategic education and development plans.
  • Develop and coordinate initiatives to enhance talent management and assessment processes.
  • Participate in hospital committees and task forces as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation requirements to maintain CME, BRN, and other professional certifications.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in professional and leadership development best practices.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining a facility-wide competency and career path model.
  • Lead consulting efforts in change management, organizational development, and effectiveness initiatives.
  • Conduct department performance evaluations and provide career development feedback.
  • Comply with all Antelope Valley Medical Center regulations and complete Compliance Awareness Training.

B. Training Implementation

  • Facilitate training programs and support change management initiatives.
  • Assess and recommend new training technologies, vendors, and services.
  • Identify and manage vendors to enhance professional and leadership development programs.
  • Oversee department functions and activities to ensure efficiency.
  • Lead project and program management efforts related to professional and leadership development.

Education & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Master’s degree in Training, Organizational Development, or a related field required.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in curriculum design, development, and delivery within training and development; healthcare experience preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven experience in program and project management.
  • Background in multi-rater feedback systems and employee surveys.
  • Experience in designing competency and career path models.

Required Licensure & Certifications

  • Active California RN License required.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required.
  • Preferred certifications:
    • SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) or ASTD (Association for Talent Development) Certification
    • Lean Sigma Certification
    • Certification in multi-rater feedback systems
    • Certification in talent assessment/management tools

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Work is conducted in offices, hospital departments, conference rooms, local hotels, and community locations.
