  • Responsibilities

    Under general supervision, the Supervising Social Worker will be responsible for:

    • Applying a Trauma-Informed Approach: Utilize a client-centered, anti-oppressive lens when working with clients. Guide and mentor staff to ensure their client interactions reflect these principles.
    • Providing Direct Client Services: Offer complex case management, crisis intervention, and advocacy, working collaboratively with clients.
    • Conducting Comprehensive Assessments: Complete Family Assessments/Biopsychosocial evaluations, including trauma screenings for adults and children. Integrate developmental screenings (Survey of Well-Being of Young Children) for children ages 0-5.
    • Determining Counseling Needs: Based on assessments, identify clients requiring Short-Term Trauma Counseling (STTC) and maintain a caseload of 4-5 STTC clients.
    • Conducting Intake & Safety Assessments: Perform client intake, risk management, and safety evaluations to determine appropriate services.
    • Maintaining Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely case file documentation, including reports for funders, within an electronic case record system.
    • Providing Site Leadership: Step in as site leader in the absence of the director, where appropriate.
    • Carrying Caseloads as Needed: Manage client cases in the absence of case management staff.
    • Supervising & Coaching Staff: Offer reflective individual and group supervision for Case Managers, Childcare Aides, and Housing Specialists.
    • Enhancing Trauma-Informed Practices: Utilize supervision and observations to help staff improve trauma-informed approaches in case management, childcare, and housing services. Foster a supportive, trauma-informed environment.
    • Utilizing Risk Management Strategies: Apply Safety Assessment and Risk Management (SARM) to prioritize engagement, assess risks, recognize triggers, and connect clients with appropriate mental health services.
    • Addressing Vicarious Trauma & Self-Care: Recognize and respond to vicarious trauma, emphasizing self-care for staff and clients.
    • Facilitating Support & Psychoeducational Groups: Lead or co-lead support groups and psychoeducational sessions for clients.
    • Performing Other Duties as Assigned.

    Additional Information

    • Clinical Supervision:
      • Bi-weekly individual clinical supervision with an LCSW, counting toward clinical hours.
      • Monthly group clinical supervision led by Shelter Services LCSW leadership.
      • Monthly group clinical supervision led by LCSW leadership at Safe Horizon Counseling Center.
    • Training Opportunities:
      • Access to Safe Horizon Learning Center & Shelter Services LCSW training programs.
      • Motivational Interviewing (MI) training with a MINT-certified trainer, plus quarterly MI group coaching sessions.

    Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) (new graduates encouraged to apply).
    • Supervisory experience is preferred but not required.
    • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel with strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Knowledge and sensitivity regarding domestic violence, child abuse, neglect, and sexual abuse.Guidance through the criminal justice system
