Overview
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in delivering family-centered nursing care, offering guidance on health maintenance and disease prevention, and assisting patients in navigating the healthcare system. Their responsibilities align with the Minnesota Board of Nursing and the Nurse Practice Act (MN Statute Section 148.171). LPNs work in highly coordinated teams, focusing on patient-centered care for individuals with complex and challenging conditions.
The Medical Assistant (MA/CMA/RMA) ensures excellent patient care and customer service by supporting the clinic’s efficient operation through both clinical and administrative tasks. Working under the guidance of providers (MD/APP) and nurses, MAs contribute to a team-based care approach that promotes high-quality service and effective communication across departments.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist providers during patient visits.
- Collect and document medical history, allergies, medications, and other health data.
- Prepare patients for exams and assist providers with procedures.
- Perform laboratory specimen collection and preparation.
- Evaluate provider orders and seek clarification when needed.
- Maintain compliance with Gillette, Joint Commission, and quality standards.
- Ensure effective communication among patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) for documentation.
- Administer immunizations and pre-procedure instructions.
- Support patient flow and maintain clean, stocked exam rooms.
- Assist in scheduling, referrals, phone communications, and lab result tracking.
Qualifications
LPN Requirements
- Active LPN licensure from the MN Board of Nursing.
- Completion of an accredited LPN program.
- CPR-BLS certification (American Heart Association required within one month of hire).
- Interest in working with individuals with short-term or long-term disabilities.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role.
Preferred:
- Prior nursing experience in a healthcare setting.
- Specialty certification relevant to the position.
MA/CMA/RMA Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Certification through AAMA (CMA) or registration through AMT (RMA) (must be obtained within six months of hire).
- BLS certification (American Heart Association required within 90 days of hire).
Preferred:
- Experience in a hospital or clinic environment.

- Proficiency in clinic workflow and procedural support.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with diverse patient populations.
- Strong computer skills and the ability to learn various healthcare software systems.
