Company Overview

At BioLife, we take pride in knowing that our work positively impacts patients with rare diseases every day. We offer a meaningful purpose, a reliable team, opportunities for career advancement, and a comprehensive benefits package—all within a dynamic and welcoming environment.

About the Role

Every day, the donors you meet will inspire you, knowing that the high-quality plasma you collect plays a vital role in creating life-changing medicines. A dedication to exceptional customer service and quality is essential in this role. You will be responsible for assessing donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of any unsuitable test results.

As a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse), you will work under the operational guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager, as applicable) and the medical supervision of the Center Physician. You will be well-versed in the regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment. Additionally, you will adhere to guidance from BioLife Medical Affairs and provide center-level support in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) matters.

How You Will Contribute

  • Assess donor eligibility, including obtaining informed consent, providing AIDS education, conducting confidential self-exclusions, performing medical history interviews, and ensuring compliance with acceptance requirements.
  • Conduct physical examinations, blood testing, and review Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) results.
  • Evaluate and manage donor reactions at the facility in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Follow appropriate SOPs for medical emergencies, including executing the Center Physician’s standing orders and arranging emergency transport when necessary.
  • Consult with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs regarding any unacceptable findings, medical concerns, or technical issues affecting donor safety and eligibility.
  • Support the administration of the Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
  • Manage employee incidents, determine the need for further medical evaluation, and refer cases to occupational health or emergency care based on EHS guidance.
  • Serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, assisting with investigations related to potential pandemic threats within the local community, as directed by EHS or Medical Affairs.
