About the 24/7 Cancer Care Clinic

The Cancer Care Clinic operates 24/7, offering outpatient treatment for oncology patients, including:

  • Chemotherapy administration
  • Blood product infusions
  • IV hydration
  • Central line and port care
  • Phlebotomy services

Our clinic is staffed by nurses, patient care technicians, and nurse practitioners who provide symptom management and urgent care for Siteman Cancer Center patients. In certain cases, the clinic also facilitates initial care for patients needing hospital admission.


Role Purpose

The registered nurse (RN) in the Cancer Care Clinic delivers direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, following established nursing care standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides patient-centered care in a healing environment.
  • Educates patients and families on illness management, post-treatment care, and medication administration.
  • Participates in patient safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Develops, implements, and documents personalized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team, patients, and families.
  • Utilizes critical thinking to assess and address patients’ physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs.
  • Identifies and incorporates patient preferences, values, and cultural considerations into care planning.

This is a safety-sensitive role, requiring constant alertness and adherence to safe work practices.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s degree or diploma in Nursing
  • License: Current RN license
  • Experience: No prior experience required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Experience: Prior experience in an oncology or hospital setting is a plus
