  • The Rubin & Cindy Gruber Sandbox – One of the few artificial intelligence labs in American academic libraries.
  • Jaffe Center for Book Arts – A hub for book-making, printing, and artistic exploration.
  • Recorded Sound Archives – A collection dedicated to preserving historical sound recordings.
  • Marvin and Sybil Weiner Spirit of America Collection – A rare collection of manuscripts and pamphlets dating back to the 16th century.

Essential Functions

  • Provide dedicated in-person and virtual library services to FAU students, researchers, and faculty at Broward campus locations.
  • Deliver specialized support for graduate students and faculty at the Florida Atlantic Davie Campus, including assisting with systematic reviews.
  • Offer reference and research assistance for all types of library materials and services, both in-person and online.
  • Promote and market the Ask a Librarian virtual reference service for the Broward campus community.
  • Conduct instructional sessions utilizing library resources to engage diverse student and faculty populations across disciplines.
  • Provide group, individual, distance learning, and hybrid instruction for courses, workshops, and academic programs.
  • Serve as a liaison across various disciplines, including architecture, communication and multimedia studies, visual arts and art history, and ocean and mechanical engineering.
  • Support scholarly communication, advocate for the adoption of Open Educational Resources (OER), and contribute to collection management.
  • Promote and market Digital Commons and Research Commons to faculty, researchers, graduate students, and postdoctoral scholars.
  • Develop promotional materials and online resources (such as research guides and tutorials) to effectively communicate library services to the FAU community.
  • Collaborate with university and library colleagues to ensure that collections and services align with FAU Broward’s academic needs and strategic goals, including maintaining R1 status and achieving Top 100 university ranking.
  • Support the Libraries’ Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other strategic initiatives.
  • Actively participate in FAU programs and events that promote student recruitment, academic preparedness, and graduation.
  • Engage in library outreach and community engagement activities.
  • Enhance FAU Libraries’ reputation as an active partner in the University’s educational and research mission, while promoting its resources and services.
  • Serve on library, university, regional, state, or national committees, and actively contribute to faculty governance.
  • Pursue research, scholarly projects, and professional presentations related to areas of expertise.
  • Develop and maintain an annual professional development plan.
  • Submit recurring library faculty activity reports as assigned.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (ALA-accredited) or an equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in an academic, special, or corporate library setting.
  • Proven record of scholarship and service meeting the Associate University Librarian rank standards at Florida Atlantic Libraries
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as both a team member and leader, demonstrating flexibility, creativity, and cooperation.
  • Experience in teaching and supporting diverse learners at varying levels of academic readiness.
  • Ability to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of library and instructional services.
  • Experience in evaluating and refining library collections.
  • Strong organizational skills, along with excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in information technologies to enhance communication and workplace productivity.
  • Demonstrated initiative, professionalism, and strong interpersonal skills, with a commitment to a high work ethic.
  • Ability to analyze and adapt to change within a rapidly evolving institution.
