About the Job

The Opportunity

Join the University of Central Florida (UCF) Libraries and play a key role in shaping the future of digital scholarship as the Digital Exploration Center Librarian. This full-time, non-tenure track, 12-month faculty position at the Assistant Librarian rank offers the opportunity to lead and coordinate innovative digital scholarship projects in collaboration with researchers across UCF.

In this newly created role, you will support a diverse range of cutting-edge research initiatives, including data visualization, geospatial mapping, digital storytelling, and digital humanities projects. Working alongside faculty and researchers, you will provide consultations, workshops, and scholarly events to advance digital scholarship on campus.

As a key leader, you will also play an instrumental role in launching and managing the Digital Exploration Center (DEC), a state-of-the-art facility set to open in early 2026. The DEC will feature an immersive visualization lab, extended reality (XR) technologies, a flexible classroom, podcast and production studios, and dynamic collaboration spaces. This space reflects UCF Libraries’ commitment to fostering interdisciplinary research and technological innovation.

As part of the new Digital Scholarship department, you will work alongside a team of forward-thinking professionals to support researchers at all levels and across all disciplines. You will have the opportunity to collaborate on digital projects, mentor students in developing interactive digital exhibitions, and help bring collections to life in exciting ways. Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Oversee daily operations of the DEC, including staff supervision.
  • Stay ahead of emerging trends in digital scholarship to ensure the DEC remains a leader in cutting-edge research support.

Technology Infrastructure & Resources

  • Manage the deployment and maintenance of digital tools and technologies.
  • Work closely with the Libraries’ technology team to ensure seamless integration of resources and infrastructure.

Educational Programming & Consultation

  • Lead consultations, workshops, and training sessions focused on digital scholarship tools and methodologies.
  • Provide guidance and expertise to researchers and faculty on digital project development.

Campus Engagement

  • Establish and strengthen partnerships with faculty, researchers, and campus organizations.
  • Advocate for the integration of DEC resources into teaching, learning, and research initiatives.
