Job Summary
The Inventory Control Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring accurate and efficient inventory management. Responsibilities include setting and maintaining optimal inventory levels, coordinating cross-division transfers to balance excess stock, conducting regular audits, and keeping inventory records up to date. This position also enforces inventory policies and procedures, identifies and reports potential risks, and collaborates with various departments to align inventory needs with business demands. Adherence to company policies and safety protocols is essential.
Core Responsibilities
- Maintain and update inventory lists, records, and ERP systems to ensure accurate tracking.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast inventory needs and address potential stock shortages or surpluses.
- Work closely with Sales, Customer Care, and Operations to determine accurate usage rates and manage OP/OQ levels for assigned SKUs and client groups.
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent stock shortages or overstock situations.
- Oversee the redistribution of excess inventory between divisions to ensure consistent product availability.
- Manage aging inventory and coordinate proper rotation, buybacks, or disposal of obsolete stock.
- Assist in setting Make to Order (MTO) quantities for new business and secure customer purchase commitments to mitigate financial risk.
- Develop and maintain high-risk customer and inventory matrices to reduce exposure.
- Partner with purchasing and logistics teams to improve procurement and transportation processes.
- Create and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enhance inventory management practices.
- Analyze inventory data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
- Inform sales teams of supplier product material changes.
- Organize and conduct physical inventory audits as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- At least two years of experience in inventory management within a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
