Interpreter / Writer
The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. (MBN) is seeking a highly skilled Interpreter/Writer to provide accurate Arabic-English (and vice versa) simultaneous interpretation for various media-related settings, including live coverage, speeches, meetings, press conferences, and TV guest appearances. This role also involves assisting in news writing while maintaining high linguistic and journalistic standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate and timely simultaneous interpretation between Arabic and English for live coverage, speeches, meetings, press conferences, TV interviews, and recorded segments.
- Ensure linguistic precision and journalistic integrity while maintaining speed and accuracy.
- Assist producers, reporters, and presenters with translations and contribute to news and program production.
- Develop and write news stories in classical Arabic, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and balance.
- Complete writing assignments, including summaries, news programs, news packages, live event scripts, and feature pieces, adhering to standard journalistic writing styles.
- Rewrite and translate wire copy, newscast stories, teases, and news packages.
- Collaborate closely with anchors, reporters, and producers to support daily news production.
Additional Duties:
- Perform additional tasks as required based on newsroom needs and live events.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of simultaneous interpreting experience, preferably in television news.
- Production Background: Experience in TV production with a strong journalistic foundation.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of political, economic, entertainment, and journalistic topics.
- Education: BA or equivalent in simultaneous interpretation.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English, French, and Classical Arabic (both written and verbal).
- Interpretation Expertise: Excellent simultaneous interpretation skills, including the ability to effectively use specialized terminology.
