Finance Manager
Position Overview
Reporting to the General Manager and serving as a key member of the site leadership team, the Finance Manager will lead the financial operations of one of the company’s mine sites. This role is responsible for financial reporting, cost management, capital reporting, and performance improvement initiatives. The Finance Manager will oversee multiple functional areas, including Accounting, Property Tax, Accounts Payable, Finance, and IT, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
This position requires close collaboration with site leadership, corporate finance teams, auditors, vendors, and consultants to drive strategic financial decisions and optimize mine site performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Act as a key member of the site leadership team, influencing strategic decisions and aligning financial operations with SSR Mining’s core values.
- Financial Oversight: Manage the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy across key financial areas such as general ledger accounting, fixed assets, accounts payable, and property taxes.
- Accounts Payable Management: Ensure timely processing of invoices and maintain strong vendor relationships.
- Compliance & Controls: Oversee the financial systems and SOX control environment, ensuring adherence to US GAAP and corporate policies.
- Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and review monthly financial reports, cost reports, and budget variances to support decision-making and performance improvements.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and strategic business plans, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
- Cost Control & Variance Analysis: Monitor financial forecasts, identify cost variances, and implement corrective actions to improve operational efficiency.
- Capital Investment Oversight: Evaluate capital expenditures to ensure value-driven investments, track project spending, and manage SAP-based financial reporting.
- IT & Systems Management: Oversee site IT infrastructure, communication systems, security, and upgrades, ensuring seamless operations.
- Best Practices & Benchmarking: Implement financial best practices, benchmarking against industry standards for continuous improvement.
- Tax Compliance: Oversee local and property tax filings, ensuring compliance and timely submissions.
- Team Leadership & Development: Build and lead a high-performing finance team, setting priorities aligned with site and corporate objectives.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance preferred.
- Certification: CPA or equivalent financial designation preferred.
- Experience: 10–15 years of finance and accounting experience, with expertise in cost and financial accounting.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in the mining sector or resource-based industries is an asset.
- Leadership Experience: Proven ability to lead a team of multi-disciplinary professionals in a dynamic environment.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of US GAAP, budgeting, and financial principles.
- Business Acumen: Ability to work cross-functionally with site teams and corporate leadership, providing financial insights to drive business growth.
