Job Responsibilities
- Proactively identify challenges and opportunities within the scientific domain, advocating for strategic plans based on deep technical and scientific expertise.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of scientific data to uncover issues and areas for enhancement.
- Mentor junior team members, providing guidance on technical and scientific concepts while contributing to the local knowledge base.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement technical solutions for complex scientific problems.
- Act as a technology advocate and thought leader within the assigned area, driving technological advancements, shaping application strategies, and recommending future development initiatives.
- Author scientific manuscripts and presentations to share research findings.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed to align with departmental and institutional objectives.
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
Minimum Education and Training
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, information science, business, or a related field is required.
- A Master’s degree is preferred.
Minimum Experience
- With a Bachelor’s degree: Minimum 12+ years of relevant experience.
- With a Master’s degree: Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Expertise in programming languages, databases, and the software development lifecycle.
- Extensive experience within the technical and/or scientific domain.
- Demonstrated leadership in previous roles.
Senior Staff Software Engineer
The Senior Staff Software Engineer is responsible for managing assigned software systems, driving strategic direction, technical design, implementation, and operational health while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Job Responsibilities
- Independently manage software systems within the area of responsibility, overseeing strategic direction, technical design, implementation, and system maintenance.
- Act as a technology advocate and thought leader, driving innovation through technology solutions, influencing application strategy, and recommending future developments.
- Architect, design, and develop high-quality solutions for all but the most complex scientific challenges.
- Utilize scientific expertise to analyze data, identify problem areas, and generate strategic opportunities for improvement.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and evaluate their applicability for effective implementation.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and other key decision-makers.
- Contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts and presentations.
- Promote continuous learning and professional development across teams, mentoring staff to enhance productivity and quality.
- Perform additional responsibilities as necessary to support the department and institution.
