Where You Will Work
Sierrita operations is located just 20 miles from Tucson, Arizona’s second-largest city. Our cutting-edge mine training facility features state-of-the-art labs, classrooms, and advanced simulators, equipping employees with the skills and expertise needed to excel. What You Will Do
- Remove, repair, and install electrical components and systems while performing analysis, diagnostics, and advanced troubleshooting.
- Complete routine and non-routine repairs and construction safely and efficiently.
- Conduct preventative maintenance, including installation, repair, and troubleshooting of industrial electrical and instrumentation equipment, such as substations, power distribution systems, switchgear motors, motor controls, process controls, instrumentation, and pneumatic equipment.
- Maintain and troubleshoot AC/DC drives, PLCs, overhead cranes, management control systems, field transmitters/transducers, weigh scales, and low and medium voltage equipment.
- Ensure all installations and renovations comply with regulatory agency standards.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work area instructions while actively participating in safety and environmental initiatives.
What You Bring to Freeport
- One of the following is required:
- Completion of a Certified Electronics, Electrical, and/or Instrumentation Program
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience in industrial electrical and/or instrumentation repair and maintenance
- An associate’s degree or Trade School Certification in a related field and at least two (2) years of experience in industrial electrical and/or instrumentation repair and maintenance
- Proficiency in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical circuits and connected equipment, with the ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and prints.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to support training, safety protocols, and electronic messaging.
- Possession of the required minimum personal tools (as outlined by the department tool list) or the ability to obtain them within 90 days of hire.
- Completion of necessary academic and practical competencies, including Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where applicable.
- Demonstrated ability to apply skills and knowledge, with successful completion of a written assessment covering technical abilities and safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience with VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA control systems
- Familiarity with low and medium voltage systems
- Proficiency in AC and/or DC controls
- Experience working with instrumentation devices and diagnostic electrical test equipment
- Background in HVAC equipment maintenance and repair
