Special Education Teacher – Inspire and Support Students with SEMH Needs

This full-time, permanent role offers the opportunity to teach core subjects while providing essential support to students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, this school nurtures students across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. As a Special Education Teacher, you will oversee a classroom, manage a team of support staff, and create a structured yet adaptable curriculum tailored to individual student needs. You’ll also play a key role in students’ academic and emotional growth, working closely with external agencies and implementing behaviour support plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lessons that cater to students with SEMH needs.
- Establish strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage positive learning experiences.
- Collaborate with support staff and external agencies to provide a holistic approach to education.
- Monitor and track student progress, adjusting teaching methods as needed.
- Promote positive behaviour strategies and apply de-escalation techniques when required.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent UK teaching qualification.
- Experience supporting students with SEMH or special educational needs.
- Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills.
- Ability to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team.
