Key Responsibilities
- Construct and repair furniture such as desks, tables, chairs, and bookcases.
- Build room partitions and other structural elements.
- Review blueprints and building plans to determine material requirements and project dimensions.
- Select appropriate building materials for various projects.
- Repair and maintain doors, cabinets, bookcases, floors, and other structures.
- Install doors, windows, tiles, flooring, ceilings, and similar fixtures.
- Perform bench work in the carpentry shop, including shaping and assembling materials.
- Measure, mark, and cut materials according to precise specifications.
- Assemble, cut, and shape materials, securing them together for structural integrity.
- Construct frameworks for structures and install sub-flooring.
- Apply decorative finishes to walls and ceilings.
- Install prefabricated windows, doors, and related components.
- Construct forms and chutes for concrete pouring.
- Set up scaffolding and ladders to facilitate work at various heights.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Technical or vocational degree with at least two years of relevant experience, OR
- High school diploma or GED with four years of relevant experience, OR
- A combination of education and experience that meets the qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of carpentry equipment, techniques, and best practices.
- Proficiency in using both hand and power tools associated with the carpentry trade.
- Ability to safely climb ladders and scaffolds.
- Capability to work in confined spaces when necessary.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.
- Strong comprehension and ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
