Database Engineer – Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement redundant, highly available database clusters to support both in-house and off-the-shelf enterprise applications.
- Ensure zero data loss across multiple nodes and clusters through continuous monitoring and maintenance.
- Optimize database performance by tuning indexes and leveraging SolarWinds DPA for performance analysis.
- Develop and maintain entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs) to document and manage data structures effectively.
- Design, implement, and regularly test a comprehensive disaster recovery plan to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Create and document custom data views for seamless integration with data visualization tools like Power BI.
- Enforce object relationship consistency across all data stores by implementing and maintaining foreign key constraints on dependent tables.
- Implement role-based security access, integrating Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) where necessary.
Preferred Education & Qualifications:
Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution, along with four years of full-time professional experience in IT service management, process management, or operations.
- An associate degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, plus six years of relevant full-time experience.
- A bachelor’s degree in any field, with eight years of professional experience in IT service management, process management, or operations.
- Equivalent education and experience combinations may also be considered.
A master’s degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited institution is strongly preferred.
