Position Summary
The Design team oversees the creation and execution of headwear designs for licensed sports and brand partner initiatives. With a deep understanding of all design touchpoints in the development process, the team is committed to delivering commercially successful results. The Design Assistant plays a key role in supporting technical design initiatives, including the creation of graphics, tech packs, and Bills of Materials (BOMs). This role is responsible for executing all deliverables with precision and efficiency under the guidance of the Design Manager while maintaining a sense of urgency.
Responsibilities
- Develops production tech packs for custom design projects across multiple channels and accounts.
- Creates production-ready artwork for various leagues and teams.
- Submits designs for internal and external approvals and implements required revisions.
- Reviews prototype samples against tech packs to ensure production accuracy.
- Manages design deliverables in New Era’s ROAL product creation system.
- Processes artwork through Job Tracker software for digitization.
- Understands and applies preferred license logos and color specifications per channel or account.
- Adheres to and meets deadlines within go-to-market calendars.
- Collaborates with the design team on cross-functional projects.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of embroidery graphic creation.
- Advanced graphic design skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to meet product design needs.
- Works with urgency and persistence to implement design changes.
- Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
- Represents the New Era brand professionally in all actions and decisions.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Experience with PLM software is preferred.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Fashion Design, or Communication Arts preferred (equivalent experience considered).
- 0–1 years of product design experience or a combination of education and experience.
- Familiarity with the sportswear or apparel industry is a plus.
