Temporary Occupational Therapist

Role Overview

As a Temporary Occupational Therapist, you will:

  • Conduct both formal and informal assessments as needed, including norm-based evaluations for students’ triennial re-evaluations.
  • Manage a caseload of students at EBC School (Palo Alto and South Bay campuses) who receive direct and consultative OT services.
  • Provide Occupational Therapy services in accordance with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Develop, update, and document annual IEP goals and progress summaries.
  • Track student progress against established IEP goals and communicate regularly with the student’s team and parents regarding participation and achievements.
  • Attend all school staff meetings, department meetings, and IEP meetings.
  • Maintain and select appropriate OT equipment for use in individual and group sessions, as well as in the classroom setting.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure skill development is reinforced across various school environments.
  • Conduct in-service training sessions on areas of expertise related to student skill development in an academic setting.
  • Develop and oversee student programs aligned with IEP goals, ensuring consistent progress in different settings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Familiarity with evidence-based practices in occupational therapy.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, including email communication, word processing, and maintaining progress notes in an electronic health record system.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Valid California OT licensure or equivalent OTR certification.
  • A minimum of three years of post-licensure experience in a pediatric clinic or school setting is preferred.
  • Experience with OT assessments and treatment is highly desirable.

Working Conditions

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to undergo training and implementation of the Pro-ACT crisis management system.
  • Capability to stand and sit for extended periods for instruction and supervision.

Special Job Requirements:

  • Availability to work select evenings for scheduled events such as Back to School Night, the Art Show, Achievement Night, staff training, and IEP meetings.
  • A valid California driver’s license is preferred.
  • This is a temporary position lasting 3 to 6 months, requiring 40 hours per week.
