This role is based at Wexham Park Hospital and Heatherwood Hospital, offering opportunities to subspecialise in Acute Pain, Obstetrics, Orthopaedics & Trauma, Regional, and Colorectal Anaesthesia. These positions have opened due to retirements and service expansion. We encourage individual interests in Anaesthesia, research, and quality improvement, with strong support for continued development through job planning and appraisal.

Main Responsibilities of a Consultant Anaesthetist
  • Provide expert anaesthesia care across a range of specialities
  • Participate in clinical audits, research projects, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Engage in teaching and mentoring junior anaesthetists
  • Take part in the non-resident on-call rota, covering CEPOD theatres, labour ward, and emergency cases
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes
Consultant Anaesthetist Role Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • GMC registration with a valid license to practice
  • FRCA or equivalent qualification
  • Listed on GMC UK Specialist Register or within 6 months of gaining CCT in Anaesthesia
  • Previous NHS experience and familiarity with UK healthcare systems
  • Strong commitment to patient safety and clinical excellence

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Fellowship in Regional Anaesthesia (EDRA) or Obstetric Anaesthesia
  • Experience in trauma and perioperative high-risk care
  • IT literacy and management experience
  • Active participation in teaching and training programs
