Responsibilities:

Detailed Tasks:

  • Provide basic bedside care to patients.
  • Ensure a comfortable, orderly, safe, and clean environment for patients.
  • Measure and record patients’ vital signs, including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
  • Assist patients with bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene.
  • Prepare and administer injections and enemas.
  • Monitor catheters.
  • Record patients’ food and fluid intake and output.
  • Clean and dress wounds.
  • Assist patients with bed positioning, standing, and walking.
  • Collect blood and urine samples for laboratory testing.
  • Perform routine lab tests as instructed by the supervisor.
  • Prepare and administer prescribed medications orally, subcutaneously, or through an IV, and accurately document the administration.
  • Report any adverse reactions to medications or treatments in line with policies for LPNs.
  • Assist in patient education related to health and wellness.
  • Accurately and promptly document all care provided using the correct format and forms/templates.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, depending on the specific setting.
  • Start intravenous fluids when necessary.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Must hold a valid license or be otherwise authorized to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of New York.
