Digital Media Specialist – Dayton Art Institute

The Dayton Art Institute seeks a Digital Media Specialist to manage and enhance its digital presence, including social media platforms, website maintenance, and accessibility app management. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong technical skills and excellent relationship-building abilities. This is an exempt position with a salary range of $47,000–$54,000 annually.

Job Summary:

The Digital Media Specialist is crucial in managing and enhancing the museum’s digital presence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and update social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.), including community engagement.
  • Market museum initiatives by creating and distributing digital content.
  • Maintain and update the Bloomberg Connects accessibility app for visually impaired users.
  • Update and maintain the museum’s website content.
  • Coordinate content updates with various departments.
  • Manage email communications related to digital media.
  • Plan future campaigns (3-4 months out) and coordinate event coverage.
  • Serve as photographer and videographer as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, computer science, or a related field, or 2+ years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and relationship building.
  • Marketing and sales experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, WordPress, Meta Business Suite, Canva, Adobe Premier, After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Lightroom.
  • Strong interpersonal and engagement skills.
  • Strong technical skills in graphic design and web tools.
  • Photography/videography experience or image editing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

This is primarily an office-based role with frequent movement throughout the museum. Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, use hands and fingers, and communicate effectively. Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. May occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
