Responsibilities

Working under minimal supervision from the Information Security Officer, the IT Security Specialist will be responsible for the following tasks, among others:

  • Lead the agency’s data, network, and cybersecurity infrastructure, overseeing governance, policies, standards, configurations, and operating procedures related to security, identity, and access. Plan, initiate, and implement security infrastructure architecture changes.
  • Review and manage security controls for detecting, analyzing, containing, eradicating, and recovering from cybersecurity incidents. Identify potential system vulnerabilities, compromises, design flaws, or performance risks, and escalate issues to senior management to mitigate impact.
  • Collaborate with business managers and the Agency Chief Contracting Officer (ACCO) to assess and procure IT projects that align with DEP’s objectives and industry standards. Assist in developing and reviewing technical specifications for IT security systems and services.
  • Conduct eDiscovery, digital forensics, and network security policy orchestration. Define, manage, and monitor security devices while establishing procedures for detecting, reporting, and responding to security incidents.
  • Perform security assessments of applications and infrastructure. Develop and oversee security strategies, awareness programs, architecture, and incident response plans.
  • Implement and manage Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and log management strategies to ensure audit and compliance.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and at least four years of relevant full-time experience in projects and policies related to the position; or
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to the above requirements.
