Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in leading a blended-age classroom of 10-15 students for 30 hours per week, spanning 180 instructional days and 10 professional development days, totaling 190 workdays.
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Support students’ individualized learning journeys by assisting with lesson implementation.
  • Facilitate small group activities to enhance engagement and understanding.
  • Assist in monitoring and tracking student academic progress.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and families regarding student development.
  • Encourage and motivate students to develop a love for learning.
  • Support student-led, hands-on learning experiences to foster curiosity and growth.
  • Assist in managing student behavior in a positive and respectful manner.
  • Collaborate with teachers and fellow assistants to enhance the classroom experience.
  • Help with administrative tasks, including student enrollment, attendance, and materials management.
  • Step in as a substitute teacher when needed.
  • Maintain consistent, in-person attendance to provide stability and continuity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in computer and online tools (email, websites, video streaming, etc.).
  • Ability to pass a Level 1 background check, drug screening, and obtain an AZ IVP fingerprint clearance card.
  • Demonstrates good judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred.
  • Prior experience working with children (coaching, mentoring, childcare, teaching, volunteering, etc.) is strongly preferred.
