Key Responsibilities
- Assist in leading a blended-age classroom of 10-15 students for 30 hours per week, spanning 180 instructional days and 10 professional development days, totaling 190 workdays.
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Support students’ individualized learning journeys by assisting with lesson implementation.
- Facilitate small group activities to enhance engagement and understanding.
- Assist in monitoring and tracking student academic progress.
- Communicate effectively with parents and families regarding student development.
- Encourage and motivate students to develop a love for learning.
- Support student-led, hands-on learning experiences to foster curiosity and growth.
- Assist in managing student behavior in a positive and respectful manner.
- Collaborate with teachers and fellow assistants to enhance the classroom experience.
- Help with administrative tasks, including student enrollment, attendance, and materials management.
- Step in as a substitute teacher when needed.
- Maintain consistent, in-person attendance to provide stability and continuity.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in computer and online tools (email, websites, video streaming, etc.).
- Ability to pass a Level 1 background check, drug screening, and obtain an AZ IVP fingerprint clearance card.
- Demonstrates good judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred.
- Prior experience working with children (coaching, mentoring, childcare, teaching, volunteering, etc.) is strongly preferred.
