Job Functions

  • Review clearinghouse transactions, identify rejections, make necessary corrections, and generate claims for submission or corrections.
  • Monitor and address aged accounts receivables, working to resolve outstanding insurance claims.
  • Ensure accurate and timely posting of payments to patient accounts.
  • Respond to inquiries related to insurance or billing concerns, following up with the appropriate sources when needed.
  • Complete remittance reconciliation.
  • Assist and direct external customers to the correct resources for inquiries.
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Stay informed about insurance policies and billing guidelines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

When Acting as a Lead:

  • Train and mentor new and existing staff.
  • Support the Director with hiring, team communication, and answering team member questions.
  • Communicate team concerns or issues to the Director as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Work Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of professional medical billing experience, or a proven track record demonstrating the ability to problem-solve, attention to detail, and initiative.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven experience with claim submission.
  • Ability to meet and maintain required background checks for the role.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal, to effectively complete job functions.
  • Analytical skills for problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Ability to respond to unpredictable situations and work with diverse patient populations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills to make independent decisions.
  • Proficiency in basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to multi-task and serve patients efficiently and courteously.
  • Strong basic math skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
