Reporting to the Associate CMO, the Virta Medical Group seeks a physician leader to guide and mentor a team of 8-10 physicians and nurse practitioners while maintaining a part-time panel of Virta patients. The Virta Medical Group strives to provide exceptional clinical care to our members in partnership with the Virta Health Corporation. This leader will manage the team’s people and processes for efficient and effective achievement of practice goals. This includes:

  • Providing quality oversight for medical care delivery.
  • Supporting the effective growth of the medical staff and professional development of team members.
  • Fostering effective collaboration with key departments.
  • Leading strategic clinical initiatives.

Responsibilities:

This physician leader will lead by example, maintaining a panel of Virta patients and helping their team of physicians and nurse practitioners improve the quality of care provided. Specific responsibilities include:

Quality Oversight for Medical Care Delivery:

  • Following up on and implementing workflow improvements crucial for safety and efficacy.
  • Monitoring quality and safety.
  • Conducting monthly reviews of clinician quality and efficiency metrics with team members.
  • Performing clinical quality assurance reviews of team members’ (and others’) clinical performance.

Growth and Development of Team Members:

  • Developing a high-functioning team of clinicians, preparing high performers for leadership roles and proactively managing the performance of those not meeting expectations.
  • Managing clinicians on the team, including:
    • Overseeing onboarding of new physicians and NPs.
    • Regular 1:1 meetings with team members to discuss challenges, ideas for improvement, and provide feedback.
    • Regular virtual and occasional in-person team meetings to build cohesion and advance common projects.
    • Reviewing quarterly cross-team feedback.
    • Conducting semi-annual performance reviews.

Foster Effective Collaboration:

  • Participating in regular reviews of clinical events.
  • Collaborating with other team members, both matrixed and directly reporting, including RNs and other staff.
  • Ensuring team members are connected to the team and the Virta mission/company.
  • Bi-weekly review of intake quality and patient feedback, as appropriate.
  • Recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new team members.

Lead Strategic Initiatives:

  • Leading strategic initiatives across Virta within a specific clinical program area.
  • Leading clinical initiatives critical to excellent patient care and business execution. This involves leading initiatives within the clinical team and collaborating across Virta to ensure success.
