An innovative technology company with a long-standing reputation in engineering consulting services and simulation product development is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its financial operations and strategic planning. This role encompasses 50% accounting and finance, 20% contracts, 20% management, and 10% administration/facilities and safety. You will oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and reporting, with a particular focus on government contract proposal development and administration. The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years of progressive accounting along with 5 of strategic planning experience, a background in government contracting, and exposure to FAR, CAS, and US government regulations. In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial systems, and ERP software and experience in managing teams and driving financial strategy is essential. This is a fully onsite position based in Hawthorne, CA, and offers an excellent benefits package that includes 100% medical coverage, a fitness and technology stipend, and other perks.
Salary Range: $190,000-240,000 / year DOE + 15-20% Bonus
CFO Requirements
- 15+ years of progressive accounting, finance and operational experience
- 1+ years of DoD government accounting experience
- 8+ years in a management role
- Experience in strategic planning and
- Knowledgeable in GAAP, FAR, GASB, DCMA, and DCAA
- Familiarity with HR and safety compliance
- CPA and CMA preferred
- Master s or MBA preferred
- Experience with ERP systems
CFO Responsibilities
- Oversight of accurate financial reporting and maintaining a robust internal control system
- Lead budgeting and planning processes, coordinating with key departments for timely and accurate forecasts and budgets
- Presentations at board meetings and will serve as the right hand person to the CEO in driving company direction and optimization of company functions
- Oversee accounting operations, including General Ledger, cost accounting, and compliance with FAR and CAS, ensuring proper invoicing and record-keeping for government contracts
- Provide senior management with financial insights to support decision-making and strategic planning
- Optimize cash flow and manage working capital, presenting strategies to maximize returns and minimize risks
- Review U.S. Government contracts, working closely with the Contracts Manager to ensure timely and accurate proposal submissions and contract management
- Direct and oversee the accounting team, setting goals aligned with company strategy and managing employee development and performance
- Address and resolve departmental issues, ensuring adherence to company policies and timelines
- Coordinate with HR and IT for office space and equipment needs, and oversee facility maintenance
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and oversee payroll and related audits
