About the Job:
This role supports the Financial Accounting Manager and the Syndicate Finance Operations team, ensuring efficient, controlled, and timely monthly and quarterly reporting. Responsibilities include Oracle ledger control and reconciliation, along with assisting in daily workflow processes.
A key focus is managing transactions from Subscribe 2000, ensuring accurate recording of underwriting transactions, cash processing (payments and receipts), and investigating discrepancies with relevant departments.
You will be a member of the Service Company Accounting team, responsible for the financial accounting of UK-based Syndicate service companies.
This role also involves team management and overseeing premium trust fund controls on behalf of the Head of Finance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recording: Processing and reconciling data from other departments regarding accruals, adjustments, and non-interfaced data.
- Reconciliation: Reconciling underwriting figures between source systems and Oracle, and assisting with month-end reconciliations.
- Maintenance & Control: Ensuring timely and accurate recording of accounting entries and adjustments in service company general ledgers. Reconciling to independent sources and between systems. Providing monthly analysis of key accounts, following up on, documenting, and resolving reconciling items.
- Month End: Preparing month-end files with supporting documentation for the trial balance, evidence of control operation, and task list completion. Ensuring data capture and allocation at the correct level of detail for month-end reporting balances and management review. Communicating with the UK Financial Planning and Analysis team to provide management and board reporting.
- Group & Statutory Reporting: Submitting monthly MI trial balance and supplementary notes. Completing half-yearly Group Reporting Templates and other Group procedures. Producing annual UK GAAP (or equivalent) Statutory Report and Accounts and financial information for board reporting. Managing external and internal auditors by providing necessary information during year-end and interim audits.
- Technical Knowledge: Staying current with IFRS and UK GAAP accounting requirements to ensure accurate transaction recording.
- Projects: Participating in ad-hoc projects, including group-wide systems and process improvements to enhance reporting timeliness and quality.
- UK Operations Team Support: Supporting the broader UK Operations team with deliverables like board reporting, particularly during quarterly reporting.
- Team Working: Supporting and developing direct reports, expanding personal knowledge of the DXC process, and providing cover and assistance within the UK Finance team as needed.
- Settlement Working Group: Gathering reports from other departments (Credit Risk, Payments, Treasury, Syndicate Finance), organizing monthly meetings with department representatives, identifying and discussing potential breaches, maintaining an action log, and escalating issues.
- Premium Trust: Coordinating information to assess compliance with premium trust rules for premium trust bank accounts.
