Description
As a Payroll & Tax Specialist, you will be responsible for all aspects of processing payroll and taxes with Paycom. You will work independently by managing adjustments to time and deductions, setting-up new hires, processing garnishments and manual checks, processing voluntary and involuntary separations, and ensuring that our state and local taxes are processed accurately and on time. The Payroll & Tax Specialist will also be required to facilitate strong customer service with both internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Ability to facilitate accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll processing working with Paycom;
- Facilitate strong customer service relationships with external and internal stakeholders and peers;
- Assist accounting team in research and resolution of payroll transactions, as needed;
- Entry and maintenance of adjustments, manual checks, voluntary and involuntary deductions, new hires, resignations and terminations, and timecard editing;
- Review and analyze applicable payroll reports;
- Reconcile and balance payroll totals;
- Assist with garnishments, working with legal as necessary, and setting-up and answering any necessary documentation;
- Pulling necessary reporting to ensure that taxes are being pulled accurately and that all taxes are being applied correctly at the federal, state and local levels;
- Execute and maintain quarter and annual payroll tax filings
- Conduct research, analysis and resolution to payroll related tax notices and inquiries;
- Review and input tax rates and/or deposit frequency changes;
- Complete federal and state-required reporting;
- Ensure compliance with each state’s varying labor and wage laws; and
- Will be responsible for excel reporting; so having a strong working knowledge of excel formulas is required.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or higher
- 5+ years of experience in full-cycle payroll processing
- 5+ years of experience in tax processing
- Proficient knowledge in Paycom is strongly preferred
- Multi-state payroll and tax processing required
- Strong communication skills, including writing, speaking and active listening
- Proficiency in Windows Office Suite, with an emphasis on Excel and Outlook
- Ability to work flexible hours when needed
Physical Requirements
- The ability to sit at a desk up to 80% of the time
- The ability to stand and walk up to 20% of the time
- The ability to be confined in a small area, such as a cubicle
- The ability to operate phones and computers
Work Environment
The functions of this role are conducted in an office environment. The employee will provide services at the Headquarters located in Arlington, Texas.

Qualifications
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree; preferably in Human Resources or Accounting
- 1-3 years experience processing payroll (required)
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills
- Ability to work independently
- Workday experience preferred
- Problem-solving skills and resourceful thinking
- Strong empathy and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Effective communication skills, including writing, speaking and active listening
- Must maintain privacy and confidentiality
