Description

We are in search of a Payroll Specialist to join our client in Mansfield, MA. As a Payroll Specialist, your primary role will include the preparation of weekly payrolls, communication with managers and employees to rectify discrepancies, and the maintenance of accurate employee information. This role also involves balancing the payroll and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare weekly payrolls ensuring compliance with company policies and federal/state regulations
  • Communicate effectively with managers and employees to resolve discrepancies in time and attendance and time-off accruals
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure accurate information for new hires, promotions, transfers, terminations, and new deductions
  • Accurately enter and maintain employee information in the HRIS/Payroll system
  • Balance the payroll and each pay element in a preliminary payroll report
  • Investigate and resolve issues relating to payroll production, deductions, etc.
  • Maintain payroll records in accordance with state and federal recordkeeping requirements
  • Stay updated with wage and tax laws affecting payroll and system updates that accommodate these
  • Use standard payroll reporting regularly and create custom reports to address ad hoc reporting requests
  • Act as a daily contact for ADP on payroll issues, the set-up of new codes, etc.
  • Respond to inquiries from all levels of employees on payroll matters
  • Apply knowledge of the company’s union contracts, track weekly/monthly hours worked and calculate the pension and health and welfare benefits the company pays out monthly to the union.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in using ADP Workforce Now software
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in 401k and RRSP administration
  • Knowledge of accounting functions
  • Familiarity with benefit functions
  • Ability to handle check processing tasks
  • Experience in payroll administration for unionized employees
  • Proficiency in pension administration.
