Purpose of the Role/ Job Overview

We are recruiting for a Network Engineer, someone who has previous experience of the configuration, support and maintenance of Network equipment, specifically, switches, Wifi Access Points, Firewalls and routers. The ideal candidate will already have some experience of running and maintaining multiple networks across multiple sites. Some exposure to Project Management or involvement in rolling out new infrastructure into sites across London with limited other sites further afield. This is a hands-on role and we are looking for someone with a real can do attitude and a focus on ensuring the best possible services and availability for our clients. It is likely that this role will involve working outside of normal working hours. Some experience of working with and implementing meeting room technology is also desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Focus on the availability, reliability, and performance of our data networks
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders on the deployment of Network related technologies
  • Working with Project Management Teams on the implementation of new network and general IT Infrastructure items
  • Creating and maintaining installation and site documentation to ensure clarity is provided to the support teams
  • Acting as an escalation point for support teams for technical issues impacting the availability, reliability and performance of networks for our clients
  • Attendance at client meetings where required by General Managers and the Technical Project Manager.
  • Feedback to IT Infrastructure Team where improvements can be made to processes or drive efficiencies
  • Weekend work maybe required for scheduled downtime activities.
  • Demonstrating our network management tools to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure to work on other projects as required and further the goals of the department and wider business.

Knowledge and experience

  • Confident working with third party providers.
  • Experience working with managed network providers.
  • Deep knowledge of IP networks, VPN’s, sub-netting and segment distribution.
  • Background and experience of IT organisations, ideally coming from a support background but ready to move into Project or Architecture activities
  • Experience in a client focussed organisation.
  • Good understanding and technical knowledge of current network and PC operating systems, hardware, protocols and standards.
  • Knowledge of meeting room technologies is desirable

Education and qualifications

  • Experience working within ITIL framework.
  • Relevant industry qualifications, e.g. CCNA, CompTIA, and eager to develop further in this area

Job specific and technical skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Applies specialist knowledge and experience to troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Scheduling and planning skills with the ability to prioritise own workload.
  • We use Technologies such as Cisco, Meraki, Ruckus on our networks and MS Azure, O365, and Yealink technologies for our Meeting rooms so any technical exposure or knowledge in these Technologies would be a real bonus!
