Summary:
CIT Clinics is seeking a skilled and compassionate physician (MD or DO) to join our team in providing innovative treatments for patients struggling with anxiety and depression. The successful candidate will specialize in administering stellate ganglion blocks (SGBs) as part of our comprehensive mental health treatment approach. This is a part-time/per diem position for 1-2 days per month at one or possibly all of our clinic locations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform stellate ganglion block procedures for patients with anxiety and depression
- Evaluate patients’ medical histories and determine suitability for SGB treatment
- Explain the SGB procedure, its potential benefits, and risks to patients
- Use ultrasound or fluoroscopic guidance to ensure precise needle placement
- Monitor patients’ responses to treatment and adjust care plans as needed
- Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team to provide holistic patient care
- Stay updated on the latest research and advancements in SGB for mental health applications
Qualifications:
- MD or DO with board certification in anesthesiology, pain management, emergency medicine or related specialty
- Prior experience in performing stellate ganglion blocks
- Familiarity with using SGBs for treating anxiety, depression, and PTSD
- Proficiency in ultrasound-guided or fluoroscopy-guided injection techniques
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development
Required Skills:
- Technical Proficiency: Ability to accurately locate and inject the stellate ganglion
- Patient Care: Skill in managing patients before, during, and after the procedure
- Diagnostic Acumen: Capability to determine if SGB is appropriate for each patient’s condition
- Safety Focus: Thorough understanding of potential risks and complications associated with SGBs
Preferred Experience:
- Background in treating mental health conditions with interventional procedures
- Research experience or publications related to SGB for psychiatric applications
- Familiarity with other innovative treatments for anxiety and depression
