About the job

We are hiring for a Junior Auditor to work with a leading medical insurance carrier where you will be responsible for supporting the internal audit team in conducting audits to ensure compliance with Medicare regulations, hospital policies, and financial integrity. This role involves examining financial records, operational procedures, and billing processes to identify discrepancies, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.

This is a fully remote opportunity with employer paid medical benefits and equipment provided.

Key Responsibilities:

Audit Preparation and Planning:

  • Assist in planning and scheduling audits.
  • Gather relevant data and documentation required for audits.
  • Review previous audit reports to understand the scope and focus areas.

Conducting Audits:

  • Perform detailed audits of hospital billing practices, financial statements, and operational processes.
  • Verify accuracy and completeness of Medicare claims and reimbursements.
  • Ensure compliance with Medicare regulations, hospital policies, and industry standards.

Data Analysis:

  • Analyze financial records, including transactions, ledgers, and journals.
  • Identify trends, discrepancies, and variances in financial and operational data.
  • Use audit software and tools to facilitate data analysis and reporting.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Document audit findings, prepare audit working papers, and draft preliminary audit reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of final audit reports with recommendations for corrective actions and improvements.
  • Communicate audit results to the senior audit team and hospital management.

Follow-up and Compliance:

  • Monitor the implementation of recommended corrective actions.
  • Follow up on previous audit findings to ensure issues are resolved.
  • Stay updated with changes in Medicare regulations and hospital policies.

Support and Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other departments to gather necessary information and understand operational workflows.
  • Provide support during external audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Collaborate with the senior audit team on special projects and investigations.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Entry-level position, but prior internship or experience in auditing, healthcare finance, or a related area is preferred.
